After adjusting and tweaking on some of the metal.

Progress on polish

Completely fresh and smooth hardware. Looks good as new!

Revamping on the lower nose bowl.

Good fit!

I was surprised the mice hadn't eaten their way through this.
Original sound deadening plastic.

This has me perplexed as to what it said originally. No one has any info on it either.
If you have something on it, let me know!

Unfastened all the controls from the engine through the
firewall. Off it comes!

A little dirty on the outside, but was surprisingly in real good
condition on the inside. No corrosion or bad wear.

Passed mic inspection very well. Big sigh of relief

Preparing for wing removal

Taking the wings to our shop at home

Striping all the paint off

This is just a once hit with a buffer wheel. Not bad for
a quick polish after 10 years!

Brought home the fuselage from Hannibal, MO
Airport to our private strip for ease of access

Before and Future

Some before pictures of when I first got the project.

This is just an idea of what it will look like. Same paint scheme and color, minus the "N" numbers on the side of the fuselage.

Just getting started

For starters, this is my first blog, so just getting going. Ill give a little history though to on the same page. I have grown up in aviation, mostly on the vintage aircraft area (1940's -1960's), and haven't lost a bit of love or interest for flying. We have a business where we fix, restore, and fly vintage Cessna's along with others. Barron Aviation.com is the website that tells all about us. Recently, I got a project of my own, a Cessna 170B, and am in the process of putting it back as close to 100% original as it was when it rolled off the factory in late 1953. This is just going to be a place for me to share the progress with those that are interested. Would like to encourage any interactions! The plan is to have it done by this summer. I have a lot to catch up on as far as pictures, but I hope that it is something that people will enjoy and follow!
